Lumineers
What Are They?
Lumineers are a permanent cosmetic treatment where fine slivers of "cerinate porcelain" are fixed on to the surface of each tooth.
Lumineers are produced exclusively by Denmat in Santa Maria, California. The cerinate porcelain used is sufficiently strong so that the material can be made in extremely thin section ( as thin as 0.2 mm ). By comparison, conventional porcelain veneers are 2-3mm or ten times as thick. This means that 2-3mm of your tooth structure needs to be removed to accommodate their placement. Because the enamel integrity of the tooth is maintained, in keeping with our non-invasive philosophy, the chances of complications arising after placement of the Lumineers are completely eliminated.
Lumineers also bring a great deal of choice as they can be used to alter the shape, alignment and colour of the teeth. Lumineers have been shown to last up to twenty years ( unlike other more invasive treatments ) making them a great value investment..
How Long Does It Take?
About one hour for the impression stage, here we take a detailed impression of your teeth to ensure a comfortable and easy fit for the finished Lumineers. Each set is made individually for each patient.
Once the Lumineers are ready it gtakes only a further 0ne to two hours to fit them.
Pain Factor?
Zero, as usually there will be no tooth preparation required, this means no drilling and no damage to healthy teeth.
If preparations are necessary this will usually be restricted to minimal enamel re-contouring only and a local anisthetic can be given if necessary.
Not Suitable For
There are no restrictions to the scope of this treatement.
Even existing crowns and bridges can be re-finished without the need for their removal.
Benefits
A superb way to transform your smile. Lumineers are an ideal treatment because the asthetics are outstanding, the result is long lasting and can be achieved without the enamel of the tooth being removed or damaged in any way. As a consequence of this the usual complications of invasive techniques (ie. toothaches and infections) are avoided.
