Cosmetic Resin Bridgework
What Is It?
Here the composite resin bonding and fibre reinforcement technologies are extended to enable replacement of missing teeth.
Simple cantilever bridgework ( a single tooth supporting a bonded fixture to replace a missing adjacent tooth ) is the most straightforward example.
More extensive bridgework involving the replacement of several missing teeth can be undertaken where a fibre re-inforced material can be bonded from one or more abutment teeth to others adjacent to the area of missing teeth.
Cross arch bridgework can even be placed from canine to canine teeth to replace all missing incissor teeth.
How Long Does It Take?
Usually completed in a single visit.
Pain Factor?
None as tooth structure removal is not required.
How Long Does It Last?
Simple cantilevers have been in place for up to fifteen years in this practice.
Cross arched fixed/fixed bridgework has been in place for up to five years in this practice ( these being the earliest ones placed here ).
Benefits
These popular treatments possess all the advantages of cosmetic composite resin bonding as discussed earlier. They are ideal alternatives to conventional laboratory produced bridgework, implants and partial dentures.
